Victor Garcia Garcia is a Spanish cellist specialized in historical performance. He enjoys a varied and international musical career as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player. Alongside his activities as a performer, his interest towards research led him to obtaining the Doctor of Performing Arts degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and the University of St Andrews, focusing on the performance practice of cellists that lived around Beethoven. He is a professor for historical cello at the HKU Utrecht Conservatorium.

In 2024, Victor was awarded the 1st Prize at the Bach International Competition in Leipzig, as well as the 1st Prize in the York Early Music Competition, as a member of the ensemble Ayres Extemporae, where he plays the violoncello piccolo. As part of Ayres Extemporae, he also won the 2nd Prize in the Biagio Marini Competition in Neuburg and the First Prize and Audience Prize at the SMADE in Estella (Spain). As part of Duo Auxesis, he obtained the First Prize, “Music and Space” Prize and Audience Prize at the Händel Competition in Göttingen.

His latest appearances include recitals at the Bachfest Leipzig, MA Festival, Zutphen Cello Festival and MA Brugge Festival, as well as concerts as a soloist-conductor with the Baroque Orchestra of Seville. He performs regularly with ensembles such as the Orchestre des Champs-Élysées, B’Rock and Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique. Victor is a co-founder of Podium Auxesis, a platform for early music based in Groningen.

He plays on a Johannes Theodorus Cuypers cello built ca. 1770 and a baroque bow by Pieter Affourtit, both in loan by the Nationaal Muziekinstrumenten Fonds.
